Dear Daisy,

If I had to describe you in one sentence, I would say that you are the most capable and impressive student I have ever had the privilege of working with.

You are intelligent, thoughtful, meticulous, responsible, and remarkably well prepared. Somehow, you always seem to be two steps ahead of everyone else while remaining humble, approachable, and easy to work with. That combination is incredibly rare.

To me, you have always been the model student—the kind of student every professor hopes for but rarely encounters. In many ways, our partnership felt like a perfect balance: a nearly perfect student working alongside a professor who occasionally operates in controlled chaos. Somehow, it worked surprisingly well.

One thing I hope you remember moving forward is that you do not always have to choose the safest or most cost-effective option. You have spent years making smart decisions, maximizing value, and carefully planning every step. Those strengths will always serve you well.

But occasionally, I hope you allow yourself to be a little bolder.

Take the opportunity that excites you.

Choose the experience that brings joy.

Follow the path that gives you emotional fulfillment rather than simply the highest return on investment.

Because the truth is that you are good enough for those opportunities. You are talented enough for those opportunities. You deserve those opportunities.

You may not always believe that you are different, but I certainly do.

Thank you for being someone I could always rely on. Working with you brought a sense of confidence and peace of mind that every advisor dreams of having. And perhaps unexpectedly, through countless conversations and observations, you even taught me a few things about how to communicate better with my wife.
